Articles Where Are They Now: Miracle Day: The Gathering Cast? by DJ Forrest

"They're antipodes. They're the antipodes of each other. Two massive population centres balanced on either side of the planet.” Esther Drummond

After Geraint is whisked off back to the medical facility to await his day in the ovens, poor sod, Rhys and Esther discover that Shanghai and Buenos Aires are the antipodes of each other, although it's Esther that points it out using the connection with PhiCorp. Once this is decided, the team split up, with Jack, Gwen and Danes heading to Shanghai, and Rex and Esther heading to the Buenos Aires.

Kitzinger meets with The Mother, and visits the Blessing for the first time and feels exhilarated by it, knowing that she was right.

Both Rex and Jack suffer from a massive pull, caused by their blood, which as they watch a trickle of Jack's blood charge across the floor of the room they're renting, finally realise that whatever is doing it, is leading them to the Blessing.

Frances Fisher

'The Mother'

'I've seen people look upon The Blessing and end their lives. There's a brilliant truth about that, because each and every time that person was hiding something vile. Isn't that wonderful? It's exhilarating, the damage it does. I wonder what you'll see.'

Fisher played the matriarch of The Three Families. Out of all the characters in the series, I think I was more scared of her and her shoulder pads than any other character. Danes found her alluring, and towards the end of the Blood Line, knew who he was going to spend his last few moments with, in the pit in old Shanghai.

Despite her long list of film and television credits, everyone has a favourite memory of which film or tv series they saw her in and mine would probably be as Rose's Mum in Titanic. Although, I do recall her in one episode of The X Files, away back when. There are enough credits since Torchwood however, to find new memories.

Since playing The Mother for both The Gathering and The Blood Line, Fisher has played Joanna Sapphire in CSI also in 2011, Judge Ellen Rousch in The Whole Truth and Colleen Scott in Partners. In 2012 played Blanche Tipton in A Gifted Man, Amelia Jones in the video Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva La Fiesta! Played the Headmistress in Childrens Hospital, and Mrs Von Hoffman for The Seven Year Hitch, television movie.

In 2013 played Nicole Farington for 5 episodes of Touch. Played Camila in Plush, and Momma B in Red Wing. In 2014 played Matilda King in Castle, from 2014 - 2015 played Lucille Langston for 21 episodes of Resurrection.

In 2016 played Antonia Slade for 2 episodes of Criminal Minds. Played Miss Abbot in An American Girl Story: Melody 1963 - Love Has to Win tv movie. From 2015 - 2016 played Edna Eshelman for Masters of Sex for 4 episodes.

In 2017 played D.E. Bristow, in the documentary, Titanic: Sinking the Myths. Fisher played Vivian Lord in Fargo for 1 episode in this year, and Tammy for Another Kind of Wedding.  In 2018 played Warden Johnson in Swedish Dicks for 2 episodes. Also in this year, appeared as herself in the music video GUNS: On Columbine.

From 2016 - 2019 played Elise Holden for 2 episodes of The Expanse. Played Jane Crawford for 5 episodes of Watchmen.

In 2020, completed Awake. In 2021 plays Dora Casale in This Is Not a War Story which is currently in Post-production. Plays Ricky in Heartland also in Post Production. Plays Mother in Grace and Grit in Post Production, and plays Mrs Snitch in The Potters in pre-production.

Ian Hughes

'Finch'

'Well, you won't mind if I take a look then. In the old days, to find a dead body you'd use a sniffer dog. But they've gone the way of the miner's budgie. Brand new app. Thermal imaging. Brilliant, it is.'

Hughes played jobsworth Finch, who visited the Cooper family on more than one occasion, determined to find Geraint, and eventually with the use of thermal imaging on his phone, uncovered him hiding behind a wall in the cellar.

Since Torchwood, Hughes has played Peter Blackwell in Doctors for 1 episode, played Rhys for 4 episodes of Stella in 2014, played Paul Clarke in Ransom in 2017 and a Solicitor in White Gold also in that year. His last credits to date that we could find, was as Owain Pincott in Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators for 1 episode in 2018.

Adam Silver

'The Young Man'

'Look at you. The nails, the coat, the lipstick. From the moment you walk through the door, you tell a story. You might have noticed we're kind of good at keeping quiet. So we need you. We need experts.'

When Jilly stepped off the plane and went to the Shanghai Restaurant to meet a guy, she was a little taken aback when after introducing herself, was told she had failed the test, as her new name was now Lucy Statten Meredith. They had taken her on because she was a storyteller, by the way she dressed and held herself, she had been who they had been looking for, for a while. He never revealed his own identity but was related to one of the Three Families. As he was about to leave, suggested that if she ever came to the restaurant at night, to order the Mitten Crab. Suddenly, I'm thinking of the gauntlet in the Bay!!!

Since Torchwood played Guy and Kim in Community for 1 episode in 2012. Played Shaun in Wedding Band for 1 episode in the same year. In 2013 played Jacob in Herman. Played Tim Deasy in Masters of Sex. In 2015 played Nestor in Transparent for 1 episode.

Danny Szam

'Surveillance Guy'

'Do you think we're stupid?'

Set up across the road from Gwen's mother's house, the surveillance guy was photographing anyone new entering the house. Curiously, didn't notice Oswald Danes entering with bread and not coming back out again. Naturally though, he didn't see Jack Harkness enter either, but Retcon is wonderful when you want someone to forget...just not too often, eh?

Since Torchwood, Szam has played Chris Hutton in WPC 56 for 5 episodes in 2014, Michelangelo Buonarroti in Borgia from 2013 - 2014. Jesse Wang

Gilbert Wynne

'Old Man'

'Metanec. Just a couple of boxes. My wife's suffering something wicked with the arthritis, see, and she's scared to go to the doctors because of the rumours. Well, they say Huw Jenkins has gone up in smoke and all he had was a bad back.'

Old guy who asks Gwen for some tablets after her ram raid into a chemist shop in Wales.

Between 1968 and 1969 Wynne played Thara in four episodes of Doctor Who story The Krotons. Just thought I would share that.

Since Torchwood, Wynne has been in two episodes of Casualty from 2006 - 2012 playing Silver Fox and Wesley Price. In 2013 played the Cardinal in Da Vinci's Demons for 1 episode, and a series of characters from John Maplethorpe, Harry Henderson and Ronald Harland for three episodes of Doctors.
