Articles Where Are They Now: Miracle Day: The Blood Line Cast?

The final instalment of the series, The Blood Line, brought the fight to Buenos Aires and Shanghai, or a Pit in Old Shanghai, antipodes of each other. Jack at one end and Rex the other. It was only going to end in bloodshed. Was this where we saw our Immortal now Mortal Jack Harkness facing his last, at the hands of his most loyal of colleagues? It said goodbye to the many and a welcome return of others. Torchwood were resetting the world and bringing Death Back.

Benito Martinez

 “All my men.”

Captain Santos is from the Fourth Manoeuvre Unit, Second Brigade. He meets Rex and Esther in Buenos Aires.  Not entirely sure I saw any whales in this episode!!! Unless that refers to a slang term for something else.

Articles Where Are They Now: Miracle Day: The Gathering Cast? by DJ Forrest

"They're antipodes. They're the antipodes of each other. Two massive population centres balanced on either side of the planet.” Esther Drummond

After Geraint is whisked off back to the medical facility to await his day in the ovens, poor sod, Rhys and Esther discover that Shanghai and Buenos Aires are the antipodes of each other, although it's Esther that points it out using the connection with PhiCorp. Once this is decided, the team split up, with Jack, Gwen and Danes heading to Shanghai, and Rex and Esther heading to the Buenos Aires.

Kitzinger meets with The Mother, and visits the Blessing for the first time and feels exhilarated by it, knowing that she was right.

Both Rex and Jack suffer from a massive pull, caused by their blood, which as they watch a trickle of Jack's blood charge across the floor of the room they're renting, finally realise that whatever is doing it, is leading them to the Blessing.

Frances Fisher

'The Mother'

'I've seen people look upon The Blessing and end their lives. There's a brilliant truth about that, because each and every time that person was hiding something vile. Isn't that wonderful? It's exhilarating, the damage it does. I wonder what you'll see.'

Fisher played the matriarch of The Three Families. Out of all the characters in the series, I think I was more scared of her and her shoulder pads than any other character. Danes found her alluring, and towards the end of the Blood Line, knew who he was going to spend his last few moments with, in the pit in old Shanghai.

Despite her long list of film and television credits, everyone has a favourite memory of which film or tv series they saw her in and mine would probably be as Rose's Mum in Titanic. Although, I do recall her in one episode of The X Files, away back when. There are enough credits since Torchwood however, to find new memories.

Since playing The Mother for both The Gathering and The Blood Line, Fisher has played Joanna Sapphire in CSI also in 2011, Judge Ellen Rousch in The Whole Truth and Colleen Scott in Partners. In 2012 played Blanche Tipton in A Gifted Man, Amelia Jones in the video Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva La Fiesta! Played the Headmistress in Childrens Hospital, and Mrs Von Hoffman for The Seven Year Hitch, television movie.

In 2013 played Nicole Farington for 5 episodes of Touch. Played Camila in Plush, and Momma B in Red Wing. In 2014 played Matilda King in Castle, from 2014 - 2015 played Lucille Langston for 21 episodes of Resurrection.

In 2016 played Antonia Slade for 2 episodes of Criminal Minds. Played Miss Abbot in An American Girl Story: Melody 1963 - Love Has to Win tv movie. From 2015 - 2016 played Edna Eshelman for Masters of Sex for 4 episodes.

In 2017 played D.E. Bristow, in the documentary, Titanic: Sinking the Myths. Fisher played Vivian Lord in Fargo for 1 episode in this year, and Tammy for Another Kind of Wedding.  In 2018 played Warden Johnson in Swedish Dicks for 2 episodes. Also in this year, appeared as herself in the music video GUNS: On Columbine.

From 2016 - 2019 played Elise Holden for 2 episodes of The Expanse. Played Jane Crawford for 5 episodes of Watchmen.

In 2020, completed Awake. In 2021 plays Dora Casale in This Is Not a War Story which is currently in Post-production. Plays Ricky in Heartland also in Post Production. Plays Mother in Grace and Grit in Post Production, and plays Mrs Snitch in The Potters in pre-production.

Ian Hughes

'Finch'

'Well, you won't mind if I take a look then. In the old days, to find a dead body you'd use a sniffer dog. But they've gone the way of the miner's budgie. Brand new app. Thermal imaging. Brilliant, it is.'

Hughes played jobsworth Finch, who visited the Cooper family on more than one occasion, determined to find Geraint, and eventually with the use of thermal imaging on his phone, uncovered him hiding behind a wall in the cellar.

Since Torchwood, Hughes has played Peter Blackwell in Doctors for 1 episode, played Rhys for 4 episodes of Stella in 2014, played Paul Clarke in Ransom in 2017 and a Solicitor in White Gold also in that year. His last credits to date that we could find, was as Owain Pincott in Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators for 1 episode in 2018.

Adam Silver

'The Young Man'

'Look at you. The nails, the coat, the lipstick. From the moment you walk through the door, you tell a story. You might have noticed we're kind of good at keeping quiet. So we need you. We need experts.'

When Jilly stepped off the plane and went to the Shanghai Restaurant to meet a guy, she was a little taken aback when after introducing herself, was told she had failed the test, as her new name was now Lucy Statten Meredith. They had taken her on because she was a storyteller, by the way she dressed and held herself, she had been who they had been looking for, for a while. He never revealed his own identity but was related to one of the Three Families. As he was about to leave, suggested that if she ever came to the restaurant at night, to order the Mitten Crab. Suddenly, I'm thinking of the gauntlet in the Bay!!!

Since Torchwood played Guy and Kim in Community for 1 episode in 2012. Played Shaun in Wedding Band for 1 episode in the same year. In 2013 played Jacob in Herman. Played Tim Deasy in Masters of Sex. In 2015 played Nestor in Transparent for 1 episode.

Played Dabney in NCIS in 2017. Played a Man in The Great Indoors. In 2019 played a Roadside Man in Velvet Buzzsaw. Played a Toothbrush Customer in Superstore for 1 episode.

As an actor: Since Torchwood, played a Sick Zombie in 2014 short Brainstorm. In 2016 played a Son for The Shadow short. Played a Founder Friendly in Silicon Valley series in 2016. Played an Airbnb Husband in Boomers in 2018. Played a Chinese Consulate Officer in Lethal Weapon series in 2019. Played Andy in Fresh Off the Boat in the same year. Played Ai's Husband in Little America in 2020. Played a Ballplayer in Young American Dream - no date listed.

Danny Szam

'Surveillance Guy'

'Do you think we're stupid?'

Set up across the road from Gwen's mother's house, the surveillance guy was photographing anyone new entering the house. Curiously, didn't notice Oswald Danes entering with bread and not coming back out again. Naturally though, he didn't see Jack Harkness enter either, but Retcon is wonderful when you want someone to forget...just not too often, eh?

Since Torchwood, Szam has played Chris Hutton in WPC 56 for 5 episodes in 2014, Michelangelo Buonarroti in Borgia from 2013 - 2014. Played Clark in film short Bruce v Clark: Debate of Justice in 2015. Played Anarchy Warner in Freak of Nurture in the same year followed by Paul in House of Salem in 2016. From 2008 - 2020, played Tony Saddler, Rhys Crandall, Kyle Jenkyns and Xander Hayes for 4 episodes of Casualty.

Jesse Wang

'Chinese Worker'

I’m unsure of Wang’s character in this episode, if someone is able to shed some light on this, I’d be truly grateful.

Since Torchwood, has played a Chinese Chairman in Two de Force in 2011, Chinese Scientist Tao in Empress Vampire in 2012, played Pau Hinh for one episode of Unusual Suspects in 2013, Asian Man in Trophy Wife in the same year. Played Martin's Dad in God's Not Dead in 2014. Played Peter Dang in Twisted, also in 2014, along with a Chinese Store Owner in Legends. From 2013 - 2014 played Mr Wang in 4 episodes of Mr Wang Goes to Hollywood, a tv series short.

IN 2016 played Sang Han for one episode of Code Black. He returned to play Martin's Dad in God's Not Dead 2 in this year also. In 2018 played a Customer in one episode of Superstore. In 2019 played Mr Huang in 5th of July. He played Bo Xilai in The Laundromat in 2019 and in 2020 played a Zoo Guard in Medical Police.

Gilbert Wynne

'Old Man'

'Metanec. Just a couple of boxes. My wife's suffering something wicked with the arthritis, see, and she's scared to go to the doctors because of the rumours. Well, they say Huw Jenkins has gone up in smoke and all he had was a bad back.'

Old guy who asks Gwen for some tablets after her ram raid into a chemist shop in Wales.

Between 1968 and 1969 Wynne played Thara in four episodes of Doctor Who story The Krotons. Just thought I would share that.

Since Torchwood, Wynne has been in two episodes of Casualty from 2006 - 2012 playing Silver Fox and Wesley Price. In 2013 played the Cardinal in Da Vinci's Demons for 1 episode, and a series of characters from John Maplethorpe, Harry Henderson and Ronald Harland for three episodes of Doctors.

Michelle Romano

'Beth' Uncredited

I have absolutely no idea what character Romano plays in this episode.

Since Torchwood, has played a series of uncredited as well as credited characters for television and shorts.  In 2011 played a Wife in 1000 Ways to Die documentary. Was Uncredited as a Doctor in Grey's Anatomy in 2012. Played Detective Giordano for 1 episode of Criminal Minds, uncredited.

Played a credited role as Judy in Milwood in 2013 along with Mish in Weird, a film short. Played a Comediene - Cameo in The Rude, the Mad and the Funny in 2014.

In many Shorts, Romano has been uncredited, and there are too many to mention, so have selected a few as we romp for home. She played Emma Henry in 2015 short Grit, along with Hope in The Look before appearing in the WIH Massive Blood Drive PSA 2016 short, in segment "Bloody Burlesque".  Played Nancy Nachman in Fruit of the Fungus short before playing Ms Eckleson in Spoken Word in 2016. Editor’s Note

So many events put on hold this year, we’re not entirely certain that Christmas is going to be a happy one this year, either. Fingers crossed though. We have had reports of trouble in Lapland and it’s quite unlikely that Santa is going to put in an appearance if travel restrictions are still in place. Might have to send Jack out for a bit of Ho-Ho-Ho-ing…possibly.

Anyhoo, there’s every chance, if everyone behaves, and follows the rules, we could be pulling crackers with more than just ourselves…perhaps!

This month sadly robbed us of two, if not three people from the acting world, with two of those voicing characters for Who & Torchwood. Visit our Whoniverse Round Up to read our short entry regarding Sessions and Palmer.

Our team have been busy with reviews this month, and I can tell you, you’ll need a flask of warm beverage to work your way through them. From Who to Philip Pullman’s Dark Materials - you’re being spoiled this November.

If you love a bit of fiction, and let’s face it, with the world going crazy at the moment, we all want to lose ourselves in a good read, then head on over to our Fans Fiction page to catch up with Lady Mayhurst’s fourth chapter of her Stories of the Nightmare Child. I love them so much. So much detail and you only wish they could be broadcast on the telly, or voiced in an audio drama.

Check out Antipathy. Also, why not give her a follow, on Facebook Page – link here https://www.facebook.com/storiesofthenightmarechild

A big thank you to my team, for all their wonderful reviews, to Tiziana for her fantastic front cover and to Lady Mayhurst for her, as ever enchanting story.

Try and stay positive, people, in this ever increasingly crazy world, and we’ll see you back here in December.

Remember, if you would like to write for us a review of Who books, or writers who have written for Who but also have books from a different genre that you’ve read, or are reading, then do please get in touch.

Welcome to Issue 86 – WATNOW: MD: End of the Road.

Articles Where Are They Now - End of the Road Cast? by DJ Forrest

End of the Road saw Jack and Gwen, with Rex and Esther at the Colasanto ranch, when not only did Jack meet Angelo again, but witnessed the end of the Colasanto family go up in smoke.

Bad CIA met the Good CIA, but the pressure of the Three Families, spelt the end for Rex's boss, and he too met his maker, along with Olivia and another CIA agent.

When Jack realised what had kept Angelo alive for this amount of time, he knew, he had to get that item as far away from the CIA and the Families as possible. Only as he escapes with Rex and Esther’s help, winds up getting critically injured after being shot in the stomach, and the episode ends with Jack slipping into unconsciousness in the back of the stolen SUV, driven by Esther Drummond.

This episode also saw Oswald Danes discover that a new Category was passing through Congress, Category Zero, just made for people like him. He might have been popular for television, but nobody could trust him again, around young children, especially girls. When Kitzinger points this out, he lashes out at her, and steals her laptop.

Gwen is deported by the CIA after standing up to Shapiro and heads back to Wales and her family.

"It's not like the old days of Torchwood. I mean, we knew what we were fighting there. But this? This is like the whole world is changing and we're just so tiny." Gwen Cooper

John de Lancie
