"We are angels. We have been
elevated. We have been purified. We have been given life unending. We are the
first angels on Earth. And I promise you this. There are even those who have
been planning for this, the agents of angels in this brand new world. I'm
telling you right now, they stand amongst us. Yes! For this is my
Revelation!" Oswald Danes
The Categories of Life was perhaps the
most powerful episode of them all because it brought Torchwood/CIA to the
Camps, and to the confrontation of the 'stupid little man' Colin Maloney, who
displayed all the behaviour of a man who could literally get away with murder.
Gwen, with Rhys in Cowbridge discovered
that her Dad, was really too ill to leave the camps, but knowing that they
would have to get him out pretty soon, as his destination was going somewhere a
lot warmer than a hospital bed.
And Oswald Danes was still blazing away
at rallies, boosting Phicorp’s profile and giving the people of the world some
kind of hope for the future, albeit it from a convicted paedophile, now turned
into some kind of an evangelist.
We were unable to find a lot of the photos of the cast, as some of them weren't listed in the transcripts, nor were there many photos of them on the internet, furthering the difficulty in trying to find them for this article.
Frederick
Koehler
‘Ralph’
"Colin,
you've just got to stop and think. This is murder."
Ralph was a young soldier, drafted in to
help with the Camps, and worked closely with Maloney. After Maloney acted
irrationally both during and after the murder of Juarez, Ralph knew that at
some point, he would need to stop Colin, before he struck again.
Since Torchwood, Koehler played the
mousy character in Grimm episode Of Mouse and Man. (I knew I'd seen him
before somewhere). In 2013 he played Lists in the video Death Race: Inferno.
He played Simon Gravy in NCIS later that year and Wallace Hines and Jesse
Gentry in Criminal Minds in the same. He played George aka The Ghost in Perception
in 2014 and Michael Van Goethen in Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street.
In 2015 played Wesley Lewis in Backstrom episode Bogeyman and played
Oliver Crispin in CSI: Cyber. In 2016 played Sean Wheeler in Major
Crimes, and Real Lot Polk in 4 episodes of American Horror Story.
In 2017 played Dennis Peterson in The
Evil Within and Mark Taylor in Bosch. Played Scott in 2 episodes of Kingdom,
and played Becca Boyle in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. In 2018 played Lists again
for the video Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy. In 2019 played Elliot
Whitman for NCIS: New Orleans, and is rumoured to have been in Marisa
Romanov series for 8 episodes but unclear of character.
In 2020, played Cooper for Kombucha
Cure, which is also in post-production.
Teddy
Sears
‘Blue
Eyed Man’
"Miss
Kitzinger. Just wanted to say you're doing a very good job."
Phicorp's own Blue Eyed Man, meets Jilly
Kitzinger after the rally and gives her a boost of happy vibes by rewarding her
for her hard work. Jilly is easily pleased, but to be fair, if a good looking
bloke said some nice words to me, I too would be flattered!!!
Sears’ character appeared in Torchwood
Miracle Day, from The Categories of Life, End of the Road, The Gathering and
The Blood Line in 2011. From there he played Rory Graham in Rizzoli & Isles
and Patrick in American Horror Story. In 2012 played Mike Adler in Drew Peterson:
Untouchable movie, and Alan Bagley in Harry's Law. Played Sam Croft in Blue
Blood and was the Man in Armani short.
From 2012 - 2013 played Detective Hayden
Cooper in 666 Park Avenue series for 5 episodes and Christian Laughton for
Curve in 2015.
Moving swiftly ahead to 2013 - 2016
played Dr. Austin Langham for 29 episodes of Masters of Sex and 12 episodes of
24: Legacy as Keith Mullins from 2016 - 2017. Also played Ryan Bellamy in
Christmas in Evergreen in 2017, following it up with Tidings of Joy in 2019.
Played Abe Charmagne in How to Get Away
with Murder in 2018, along with playing Jay Garrick, Zoom and Hunter Zolomon in
The Flash from 2015 - 2018 for 20 episodes (might need to give that a watch).
Played Kyle Sheffield in Chicago Fire from 2018 - 2019 for 10 episodes. In The
Politician, played William for 4 episodes from 2019 - 2020, and currently in
pre-production plays Bobby Nunn for Ordinary Joe in 2020.
Marc
Vann
‘Colin
Maloney’
"It's
a brand new world, Ralph. A world with no more death, which means there is no
more murder. Now go. Go. Leave me my jacket."
Maloney was the snake at the Camps, who
had little regard for anyone other than his own self importance. He was a
horrible man.
The first time I ever saw Vann on telly
was in CSI as Conrad Ecklie, so it was a punch in the air when I saw him in TW
eleven years later. Vann played Conrad from 2000 - 2015 for 67 episodes of CSI.
In the TV movie of the series, he returned to play Conrad Ecklie. Since then
has played Agent Adam Fuchs for 2 episodes of Criminal Minds from 2007 - 2015.
In 2016 he played Tommie for Adoptable.
Marc Vann has since retired from acting
- if my sources are correct. I hope he's enjoying putting his feet up and
pottering about in his garden - if he has a garden that is.
Daniel
Adegboyega
‘Guard’
“Get up

There was a guard at the Miracle Rally.

Aaron in Doctor Who episode Resolution, and Rydel in Sex Education. Played
Babalola in Gloss in 2019 along with Rook in Avengement and Officer Mason in
Baghdad in my Shadow. Also in this year played Michael Woodward in Holby City
and Viktor in 6 Underground (an awesome film, if you ever get to see it).
For 2020 has completed Big Boys Don't
Cry where he plays Vince. In Post production he plays Gavin in Tom and Jerry
out in 2021 and it's been announced that he's to voice the Commander in the
video game Squadron 42.
Brad
Bell
‘Nurse
Chris’
“This is
standard emergency procedure, and I have fifty patients to process an hour, so
you got a better system, you can write me a letter, okay?”
Nurse Chris was the guy responsible for
'pegging' the Category patients in the camp.
Since Torchwood, Bell, or Cheeks as he
appears to be known as throughout his working career as an actor was also
executive producer for 16 episodes of Husbands from 2011 - 2013, where he also
played as Cheeks for 20 episodes.
As a writer, he wrote 40 episodes of Pop

‘Handsome

There was no mention of handsome man in
the transcript, so am unsure where he is in the episode.
As well as acting, Dane is also a stunt
man, performing stunts for Heroine Legends series in 2012, in which he also
played the character Bradley for 2 episodes and Power Hungry where he played
Axys, in the same year.

of play.
There is nothing listed after Torchwood

& Ernie movie.
Eve
Mauro
‘Maria

“The
report was sent to Congress today. The HHS Secretary took it directly to the
President. Now that categories have been finalised it clears the way for a lot

“He’s

Chris Wilson is no stranger to our
WATNOW articles, from Torchwood 1 & 2 seasons, to Miracle Day. He has
worked as not only an actor but a stand-in for an actor, and also a location
assistant, assistant director and second unit director. If I had to list every
single acting achievement since Torchwood, we would be here till the sun
explodes. Put it this way - there are 416 credits as an actor, so you'll
understand if I don't list as many as all of that. But we will update from the
