This month sees the Torchwood/CIA team heading out to L.A. They're still in hiding and what better place than right by the beach!!! Esther's family ties put Jack and Gwen in danger and puts her at odds with Rex.

Oswald has competition on the campaign trail and finds that the only way to beat them is to raise the stakes.

Gwen's American accent is brought into question after a meeting with Nicholas Frumkin and family in the park.

And an Assassin is about to impart the name of those who want Jack dead until Rex silences him forever.

C. Thomas Howell

If you were a kid growing up in the 80s, you'll remember The Outsiders and Howell's performance as Pony Boy Curtis. If you don't, how about E.T. as Tyler, or Hitcher as Jim - now that was edge of seat stuff. I have to admit, that I didn't fully recognise Howell in TW, until I saw the credits and was somewhat shocked at just how much he had changed over the years but having read about his life around 2000 - 2005, when he lost 45 pounds after rupturing his appendix, and then his strict protein and carb diet which helped him gain 12lb of muscle, it certainly explained the dramatic weight loss and gaunt features.  

Howell played The Gentleman, an assassin hired by Phicorp and The Families to eliminate Torchwood, and more especially, Captain Jack Harkness, but before he had the chance to reveal who had hired him, Rex Matheson shot him several times, in the throat. Oops!

Since Torchwood, Howell has played Jack's Father in The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, Ray Stewart in Longmire in same year with Eli Aquino in Alphas, a Bounty Hunter in Revolution and John Campbell in Castle in 2012 also, including Martin Cordova in Hawaii Five-0.

In 2013, played Nathan Detrick in An Amish Murder, television movie. Played Delbert Furgeson in Lost on Purpose, Played Officer Dewey Dudek for 27 episodes of Southland. In the video Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox was the voice of Professor Zoom and Eobard Thawne. Played John Asher in Horror Haiku for 1 episode. Was Agent Frank Eagan in Sons of Anarchy and played Alex Polanski in Blue Bloods for 1 episode.

In 2014 played Tony in Confessions of a Womaniser, played Zeke in Bigfoot Wars and Charlie DuPois in Category 5, television movie. Played Weston Steward in five episodes of Grimm (which means I'll need to go and rewatch the series to find those episodes). Played Nate in Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce for 4 episodes from 2014 - 2015.

Between 2014 - 2015 was also executive producer of A Magic Christmas (2014) and Spirit Riders (2015), and A Christmas Eve Miracle. And co-producer of Sick People in 2015.

Played Joe Hillis in Motive in 2015, another television movie. Played Keith in Spirit Riders. Voiced Will Magnus for Justice League video: Gods and Monsters. Played Mr Witherspoon in Ties That Bind series. Played Special Agent Mick Granger in Sleepy Hollow. Played Dr. Brogan in Ray Donovan for 4 episodes. Played Carson Wolf for 3 episodes of The Punisher.

In 2018 played Earl Fagen in The Blacklist for 2 episodes. Was the voice of Zoom in Suicide Squad video Hell to Pay. Played Paul in 10 episodes of Animal Kingdom. Played a Businessman in The Good Cop. Played Vasil in MacGyver and Max Van Kirk in Dynasy for 2 episodes. Played Hilltop Resident in The Walking Dead and Blake in Rich Boy, Rich Girl.

In 2019 played Louis Degner for 3 episodes of Bosch. Played Captain Browning in Dauntless: The Battle of Midway. Played Major Bowen in The Terror for four episodes and Ash Spenser for 6 episodes of SEAL Team from 2017 - 2019.

In 2020 played six episodes of Criminal Minds (from 2009 - 2020) as George Foyet and The Reaper. Played Breen Nash in Beast Mode.

Has completed the film The Original Play James Play as Kirk. And three films in post production - Crimson Point as Frank, The Wrong Path as Dr. Eric Peselowe, and Mama's Eggnog as Peter.

Mare Winningham

Ellis Hartley Monroe was on the campaign trail, promoting the 'Dead is Dead' slogan. She was determined to undermine Phicorp and had the backing of the public, until Oswald Danes crossed the barrier and walked into the infected hospital. After that, Phicorp dealt with Monroe, packing her forever inside a crushed and cubed car.

If you're a lover of 80s films then you'll remember how great they were, if not for all the big hair and shoulder pads. 80s classics led us to Tom Hanks and C Thomas Howell, to Rob Lowe and to Mare Winningham. Hands up to those of you who watched Turner and Hooch and vowed never to own a slobbery dog!!!

I sat through the first episode of seeing Winningham and wondered where I'd seen her face before. The name didn't register at all. I googled and I found her and smiled. It's times like this that I love it when a big 80s name comes into our little home-grown sci fi series.

Since Torchwood, Winningham has played Baker Margaret in Mirror Mirror and three episodes of Hatfields & McCoys as Sally McCoy in 2012. Played Terry Beckett in Hawaii Five-0 in 2013 along with Mary in Philomena and Agatha Seagrave in Under the Dome. For 14 episodes of American Horror Story from 2013 - 2017 played Hazel Evers, Sally Keffler and Rita Gayheart.

In 2017 played Dr. Cassandra Jennings in Geostorm. For 14 episodes of The Affair played Cherry Lockhart from 2014 - 2018. Played Darlene Kiger in Dark Waters in 2019. For 10 episodes of The Outsider played Jeannie Anderson in 2020.

Juanita Jennings

Bisme was promoting the hospitals that would hold the 'dead' patients until another solution could be found.

Since Torchwood, Jennings has played Edna in 62 episodes of Meet the Browns from 2009 - 2011. Played Kamala in Shameless for 2 episodes in 2013 and was the voice of Zuki in Khumba in the same year.    

Played Amira's Grandma in one episode of Major Crimes in 2015. Played Gwendolyn Williams in tv series Here and Now in 2018 for 1 episode. Played Lillian Cook for 1 episode of Suits in 2018 and Mrs Duvet for 2 episodes of Detroiters from 2017 - 2018. Played Grandmother in Love Spoken video in the same year.

Between 2017 - 2019 played Ruby for 17 episodes of Star. Played Lillian Cook again but for a different series in 2019 called Pearson (is this a spin off from Suits).

Played Mrs Hertrude for 8 episodes of David Makes Man in 2019. And appears in the episode Woo Woo Woo of The Chi in 2020.

Candace Brown

'Sarah'

Sarah Drummond is the older sister to Esther, and one with a lot of mental health issues, and this latest bout was brought on by The Miracle. She has troubles that Esther can't help with, and thinks that putting her into the system will at least help her and the family.

Since Torchwood, played Alana Murphy in Shameless in 2012 for two episodes, along with Camille in Suburgatory series, and as Lauren Ordenstein in The Mindy Project. Between 2010 and 2013 played a Young Woman and Wife - Jay's Ritual for 3 episodes of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Played Laura Reynolds in Ask a Slave and various characters in The Back of the Class television movie.

In 2015 played Marissa in WTF America television movie, as well as Claire Crawford in 3 episodes of In-Between.  In 2016 played Queen Guinevere in Comedy Bang! Bang! and Cindy in Shit Kids television movie. Played Leeza in Prostitunes: Hey, Psycho! (Do U Recycle?) video short and Jeannie Marchand in Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ series.

Roger V. Burton

'Thin Old Man'

"I still recognise you behind that mask. You bastard."

Burton played one of the sick patients in the ward visited by Oswald Danes, who recognised the paedo, even with his mask on.

Born 18th January, 1928, Burton was a professional jazz musician by the age of 11 years old and played with legends such as Peggy Lee and Nat 'King' Cole and Hoagy Carmichael. He worked as a professional musician while studying for his Bachelors and Masters Degrees and his Ph.D in Developmental Psychology.

He became an esteemed psychologist and lectured all over the world. After 25 years as a psychology professor at SUNY, Buffalo he retired to begin working with the Five Sisters Productions. He became an actor and performed in a number of films including Chairman of the Board in 1998. He continued acting up until his death at the age of 90. He died on 30th November, 2018 in Santa Monica, California.

Since Torchwood in 2011, as his acting career is pretty extensive before then, he's played a number of 'old men' roles!

He played Wayne in Up All Night in 2012. Uncle Bill in Super Clyde, television film in 2013 and again in 2015. Played Steven Tyler after Pyrotechnics, Mick Jagger's Son and Jersey Shores for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 2011 - 2013 for 4 episodes. He played King Rupert in Two and a Half Men in 2015 for episodes Of Course He's Dead parts 1 & 2 and Uncle Bill in Super Clyde in the same year.

Played Eugene Hamilton in Shameless episode Going Once, Going Twice in 2016. Old Howard Zimmerman in Fargo in 2017 and Patterson in Please Stand By Me in the same year. Also in 2017 he played Roy Baker in The Fake News with Ted Nelms. Between 2016 - 2018 played Martha's Dad in Baskets a television series, for 3 episodes.

In 2018 played Philips in The Cool Kids and Uncle Alec in The Guest Book, and played Harry the (Old Guy) in film short Old Guy which came out in 2020.

Kelvin Yu

'Nicolas Frumkin'

Torchwood's methods of extracting the correct biometrics for accessing Frumkin's secure site were safer and nobody lost an eye, or a hand.... unfortunately, The Gentleman had no other option. Well, he did, but this way was quicker.

Since Torchwood Yu has worked not just as an actor but also a Producer and Writer, including writer of soundtracks as well as performing on some of them.

Was also writer for Casting series from 2010 - 2012. Was also Director for Casting series from 2010 - 2011, and for Mother of the Year film short in 2010. Was Producer for Casting series from 2010 - 2011, including co-producer for Wake in 2011, and Mother of the Year short in 2010.

As Actress, Zi also played Zeena Greenberg in Casting series from 2010 - 2011. Played a Saucy Scientist in Blunderkind, a film short in 2011. Amelia in Cross My Heart, another film short in 2012, and Lisa Chung in Castle in 2013. Played Aunt Kim in My Aunt Kim in video short in 2014 and Mom in video short Profiler in 2015.

Dilio played the guard who met Gwen Cooper as she entered PhiCorp lobby, and spoke with, whom he thought was Human Resources, but was in fact, Esther Drummond.

David Fofi

'Burly Guard'

"I don't have anything on my schedule."

Captain Jack met the 'burly guard' as he entered the building, pretending to be a delivery courier. He entered in the tradesman entrance. Fofi buzzed him through. Later on, when Jack returned to the truck, he found the guard had been strangled with rope from the back of the truck. Jack knew then that they had been compromised and Gwen was in danger.

Since Torchwood, played Chuck Hillenbran in Franklin& Bash in 2012, Chairman in Shameless in 2013, and Dave in 10 Tricks currently in post production.

Roy Lee Jones

‘Maurice’ (Rex's Dad)

Kenneth Flanagan

'Golden Cowboy' (uncredited)

The moving Statue of a cowboy on Venice Beach.

Since Torchwood, was production associate for two episodes of Space Command currently in pre-production in 2020.

As an actor his only other credit after this time was as an ER Doctor, uncredited in Seven Psychopaths in 2012.

Katsy Chappell

'Woman'

"Look, just take him. Take him! That's his books and his pills and he likes that old sweater. I'm sick of his piss and his smell. Everything he eats he throws up. Am I supposed to look after him forever now? I'm not doing it. I tried but I can't, okay?"

Played the Woman who brought in her relative who was unable to care for himself due to the Miracle. She felt helpless and unable to cope with him anymore and dumped him at the hospital.

Since Torchwood, Chappell played Miss Jensen in Love You Illegally in 2012, and Buffy in film short Garden Party in 2013, along with Life After 50 in the same year, as Linda.

In 2014 played Ernestine in Being Humphrey Bogart, Leana in Section 8, Ernestine again in The Married Life and again in both Cork-No a video short, and Slam Dance television series. Also in another video short Counter Fit later on in this year. Unsure if they're connected or just coincidence.

In Living with Parents in 2014 played Delilah Manning for 5 episodes. And played Tonya and Sally for 2 episodes in Switching Sides in the same year.

 From 2015 - 2016 played Ernestine (again) in Ginger television series for 1 episode and in Smart Therapy as the same character name, although again, unsure if it is the same actual character role.

In 2016 played Mother in The Veil and a Patient in The Psychologist: A Comedy Web series short. Played Mrs Hart in Tenderfoot, another short, and plays a Nurse in Seven Days, which is in post-production.

JoNell Kennedy

'Veronica'

"She's been under observation in the psych ward under the care of a Doctor, where is it? Doctor Cottesloe. That's it. No report on file yet. Should be something in tomorrow or the next couple of days."

Veronica worked for Social Services and took the call from Esther regarding her nieces Alice and Melanie.

Since Torchwood, Kennedy has played Danell in Southland in 2012, and Coroner Pat for 4 episodes of The Mentalist from 2009 - 2012. Played Navy Commander Lisa Cleveland for 1 episode of NCIS in 2013 and voiced The Local Population  in Grand Theft Auto V video game in the same year. Played Sgt Lynne Johnson in Criminal Minds for 2 episodes also in this year.

In 2014 played Amara in In The Morning. Played Dr Young in Real Husbands of Hollywood series in 2015 and Dr Giles in one episode of Shameless in the same year. Voiced Additional Voices in Call of Duty: Black Ops III video game in 2015. Played Leann Stockwell in one episode of Hawaii Five-0 in 2016. Played June Dwyer in Conviction in 2016 and Jackie in Code Black series in same year.

His one and only credit appears to be with Torchwood, and this episode. Again, could be another doctor with a mask who entered the building or walked around the area outside of the ‘plague ship’ hospital.

So far as I can ascertain, she was the young girl in the wheelchair, left in the ward with the sick people, where a young baby girl was crying in a bed in front of her.

Since Torchwood, has played Vicki in Anger Management in 2013, Kierra in 4Play in 2014, and Sonya in Unchained in 2020.

David Grant Wright

‘Male Newscaster’

“The courts have been flooded with claims and counter claims as people adjust to a new form of life.”

  

Played one of the newscasters on the television channels throughout the episode.

In 2015 played Andrej for 6 episodes of 100 Code, but uncredited. Played Friend in Bar in Welcome to Sweden. Played Ramzan in Johan Falk: Tyst diplomati video and the same character again for video Blodsdiamanter.

Played Barry Simmons for 34 episodes of Gåsmamman from 2015 - 2019. Played Bosse for 6 episodes of We Got This in 2020.

Was Director and Executive Producer and played the role of Tats in Moon in the Blue Sky short in 2013.

Worked as cinematographer for two shorts, The Story for the Grandchildren in 2012 in which he also played Tai in Voyeur in the Park in 2013, which he was also producer and writer of.

As actor, since Torchwood, played Shindo in National Geographic Investigates documentary series - Crime Lords of Tokyo in 2011 and played Toramaru in Saki the Killer video in the same year.

In 2012 played Yakuza #1 in video Black Cobra. He played Toshiro in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 in 2012.

In 2014 was uncredited as Karaoke Singer #1 in Sofia Coppola's The Little Mermaid Video Short.

Played Ricky in Blue Tide video and Tatsuji in Man from Reno and in 2015 played Commander Tokyo Joe in Little Boy.

In 2017 played the Japanese Anchor for Wiener Dog Internationals. Played Mozi Song in Espionage Tonight in the same year. Played Ronin in film short Sword of the Dead in 2018 and Nakahara in Bottom of the 9th in 2019. Plays Nova in Paragon out sometime in 2020.
