Baltazar, scourge of the
Galaxy was an evil character in Doctor Who's animated mini-series The Infinite
Quest, and voiced by Anthony Head.
Baltazar was a space
pirate, who was also known as Corsair, the King of Triton. He had set his
sights on destroying Planet Earth by using plasma fire to compress all
carbon-based life forms and reduce them to diamonds. Naturally the 10th Doctor
thwarts him at every turn but it doesn't stop him trying to outdo the Doctor.
Baltazar used the Doctor
in order to find all the data chips to locate the lost ship, the Infinite.
He had built his own
warship which he considered the best that was around, and the Doctor thought
was quite a cool ship, until he destroyed it with a spoon. He was also the only
opponent against the Doctor with a sense of humour.
The series was written by
Alan Barnes and directed by Gary Russell and starred 10th Doctor David Tennant
and Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones.
It ran for 13 episodes and
premiered on 2nd April - 29th June 2007 and was broadcast through the Totally
Doctor Who series on CBBC.
