Locations Guide –
Combat
By John Bond-Winstone (a.k.a. The Doctor)
Well
hello there my location groupies. I hope
you have been enjoying this edition of Project: Torchwood. This month’s guide is going to be a short and
sweet one as there are only two locations to show you. This episode is one of my favourite episodes
as it shows a dark side to the human nature.
We all know that this episode is focused around a Fight Club where
Weevils are being stolen and used for gambling pleasure. I won’t go into detail as I would be taking
Jack’s job away from him. So lets get
down to the nitty gritty.
The Coal Exchange, Mount Pleasant
Square, Butetown, CF10 5EB
The
Coal Exchange was built in 1886 and is a historic landmark in the South of
Cardiff that has housed concerts and has been used as a locations for many BBC
Cymru programmes. Unfortunately the
building has now closed. In Torchwood
this location was used to shoot the fight scenes of Men fighting Weevils.
How to get to the Coal Exchange:
Catch
a train at Cardiff Central Train Station to Cardiff Queen Street (Normally a
Valleys train from Platform 6
Get
off at Cardiff Queen Street and wait for the Cardiff Bay Train
Catch
the Cardiff Bay Train from Cardiff Queen Street Station
Get
off at Cardiff Bay Station
Come
out of the station and turn left onto Bute Street
Walk
down West Bute Street and turn off onto Mount Pleasant Square
Tiger Tiger, Greyfriars Road, Cardiff
City Centre
This
location was used for when Owen goes to a bar for a drink and gets into a fight
with a boyfriend of a girl he chats up.
Tiger, Tiger is one of the most well-known bar and nightclubs in Cardiff
and is a 2 second walk from the Hilton Hotel.
From
Cardiff Bus Station
Walk
along Wood Street and head to St Marys Street
Walk
all the way up to Cardiff Castle and turn right
Follow
Duke Street around to Kingsway and turn right by the Hilton Hotel
Walk
along Greyfriars Road and the location is on your right.
