Well hello again to the readers.  This issue focuses on the episode of the Cyberwoman.  I won’t bore you with what the episode is about as that’s what the rest of this issue is going to be doing.  As 99% of the episode is filmed at the Torchwood Hub (on set), there are only a couple of locations used.  These are Tredegar House and Mermaid Quay.

Tredegar House, Newport, South Wales NP10 8YW

The Cellar in Tredegar House was used as the location for the Cyber Conversion Chamber in which Ianto’s Girlfriend Lisa was held.  Tredegar House has appeared in another episode so if you want to leave a guess to which one then please leave a comment below as I am not going to give spoilers.  Tredegar House has also made appearances in many episodes of Doctor Who as well.

Tredegar House is a 17th Century mansion built upon a 15th Century manor house set in some 90 acres of parkland, and was home to the Morgans, a very influential family in Welsh life. The house was finally sold by the family in 1951 and became a school, and eventually became a council property. The house is open to the public for tours during the summer months.

How to get to Tredegar House

Bus

From Cardiff – Catch the Number 30 Bus, which is run by Cardiff Bus or Newport Bus and it leaves every 10 minutes from stand E4.  As the Driver to let you know where to get off when you get to Tredegar House.

When you get off the bus stop is within a 5-minute walk from the main entrance.

Mermaid Quay

We all know what Mermaid Quay is so for this issue I won’t bore you with all the details as it has or will be covered in other issues.  But one location, which you might want to know about, is when Rhys phones Gwen in the episode.  This location is not too far from the little promenade and close to the Norwegian Church, which overlooks the Quay.

Also another shot is used in this location where Owen, Tosh, Jack and Gwen are chasing Ianto who is running back to the Tourist Information Office to go back to Lisa.  This is location 2.

How to get to this location

Follow my other directions on how to get to Mermaid Quay in the previous issues.

Walk straight down to the promenade stop on the promenade and you are on location 2 and then when you are ready turn left. Keep walking around and every now and then stop to see if you are standing in the position this picture is.
