Personal
Notes: After much
deliberation it was decided to make use of some alien tech we had in our
archives. No idea where it is from, but it came through the rift 35 years ago.
After some tests we found it had some temporal displacement qualities and after
some jiggery pokery Toshiko has linked it to the Quantum Transducer, giving us
the ability to physically move a ‘ghost’ from one point of time to ours, though
it is only for a limited period and of 1 hour and 25 minutes, approximately,
then the subject simply fades out and vanishes.
So we’re hoping to maybe gain something from Ed Morgan, the younger, or
at least see how this combined tech works out and if it could be useful in the
future. In this case I suspect not.

Interview:
Interviewee: Edwin Morgan
Interviewer: Captain J.
Harkness – Dr Harper made a request to perform this interview. I felt this was
unwise.
Observational Notes:
This kid is cocky and self assured. He’s too self-assured for my liking.
I’ve met plenty of kids like Ed Morgan over my many years, so his obvious
attitude really doesn’t bother me.
Personally I suspect this interview will be as much a waste of time as
interviewing his older self. He has become so emotionally unstable it makes it
impossible to get any real sense from here. With the younger Morgan I suspect
we will get very little information.
As I explained to Owen, he was an observer, not a ‘witness’. It means
nothing. But I am prepared to be proven wrong, hence the interview.
Captain J. Harkness
So, Edwin, what can
you tell me about Lizzie Lewis?
Who? (Shifts in his seat uneasily)
And it’s Ed! Nobody calls me Edwin, (sits
back folding his arms) except my parents!
(Jack stands, arms folded in his usual confident
manner) Little
Lizzie Lewis! She lived just around the corner from you; the only child of
Mabel Ann Lewis. You were seen with her
at the dance the night she died. Remember her now….Ed?!
Oh yeh, I remember her (smiles
slyly with a slight nod). Nice girl! Got bored with her and left her at the
dance hall; didn’t see her again.
Are you sure, because
we’ve heard otherwise; (Jack steps
forward and leans on the table)
that you followed her under the bridge where she was found the next day. So
I’ll ask again, what can you tell me about you and Lizzie Lewis?
Who told you that? (Suddenly sits
upright) They’re bloody liars? And who are you anyway? You’re not police? (Pauses and looks Jack up and down) Wait,
isn’t that an RAF uniform? Why’s an RAF guy asking me about a girl I got bored
with who went off with the wrong guy and got herself killed? What’s it to do
with you?
Who I am, (smiles a small smile) or who I work for Ed Morgan, is of no
consequence to you. (Jack stands
up again takes a step back and folds his arms smiling, giving his usual
confident but cocky shoulder wiggle) We have a vested interest in finding the truth behind a
young girls attack and ultimately, (the smiles fades with a slight pause) her death and if it means dragging
the likes of you in and asking questions, then we shall. And just so you know,
we answer to no one; police, the government or the military, (Jack leans in close to Ed) no one.
(laughs) Really?! You people, (leans back in seat with a shrug) who or what ever you are, don’t
scare me. I’ve done nothing wrong. What ever anyone has said is a lie, its
rubbish. You have the wrong guy….you got it…mate!?
Nothing frightens
you? (Jack lowers his voice leaning
in closer) I was
once known as the ‘go to guy’ back in the day. I may seem like a nice guy ED
Morgan, but believe me, and I don’t say this lightly, you should be very afraid
of me. So I shall ask you again…(stepping
back, but still leaning on the table) Did you rape and kill Elizabeth Lewis?
NO! I’ve told you, (Ed suddenly
leans forward, over the table) I wasn’t anywhere near the silly cow!
(Jack slams both hands hard onto the table leaning
into Ed Morgan’s face baring his teeth in anger) You were SEEN! You were seen
approaching the victim. You were SEEN under the bridge with her!
(Yelling) You’re a LIAR! No one was there! I’d have seen
them! (Ed pauses and drops back on his
seat realising what he has said. Then the interrogation room door flies open
followed by a very angry Owen Harper)
End of interview
Note:
At this point the interview ended when Owen Harper slammed through the
door and went for Morgan. Yelling at Morgan; that he was the one who’d seen him.
It took both me and Ianto to get Owen off the guy! Normally speaking I’d have
quite happily let Owen at Morgan, but I didn’t want to end up in trouble with
both the Shadow Proclamation and the Doctor for not putting this nasty piece of
work back where we found him.
Like I said before; a total waste of time, we gained nothing that we
could use to get this guy. Let’s face it, what do we have. A quantum transducer
and a report from a Torchwood operative who wasn’t actually there!
But it seems our new cobbled together alien tech gizmo may be useful
(must ask Ianto to name it). Though I think when it’s not in use we shall keep
both alien artefacts apart so as not to abuse this new found function.
Case closed!
Captain J. Harkness
