Continuity Errors on Torchwood

Over the years there have been any number of continuity errors on Torchwood, I can name on one hand the ones I remember the best of, but I'm wondering how many you guys can recall. Some are blindingly obvious while others take a bit of reviewing and hitting the playback button on the remote.

Torchwood Returns to Audio

The most exciting news to come out of January has to be the news of Torchwood’s return if only with Radio plays but it’s coming back and that is good news.  We asked the fans what they thought to the news and the views were mixed.  Reached 447 views.

~Jack~ What's great to know is that Torchwood hasn't been abandoned, by the actors or by the writers and it's wonderful news to know that RTD will be at the helm again.

DIARY OF A WOODY WHOVIAN
By “Bone Muncher”

How does one explain to ones fellow men and women that you are a sci-fi fan, a passionate geek, the nerd in the back of the class reading the Hitch Hikers Guide to avoid calculus?  When I was that young…. Some decades ago now, being that ‘that way’ inclined was rather like having the plague, especially for a girl. It rather explains why I only had a few friends and those I had were the best.

What does Torchwood mean to you?
By DJ Forrest

As a kid I grew up watching Doctor Who, hiding behind sofas when the Daleks and Davros came on.  I had favourite shows I wouldn’t miss an episode of, even racing through a driving lesson to be sure I got home before Miami Vice credits had even begun to roll.  And as much as I was a fan and I would collect all the memorabilia of this show and others like it, my crazy fan like behaviour was going to go into over drive much later in adulthood when Doctor Who returned and my attention was drawn to the skinny man in the suit wearing Converse.  But before he appeared, Christopher Eccleston took my attention, and an American in a great coat that looked way too big for him, a con man, a man you weren’t too sure about, and even when he was left behind during the episode ‘Parting of the Ways’ you never expected to find him in 2006 in an underground organisation, with 4 other people working with him protecting the planet Earth from alien attack.

#IantoJonesDay

Hashtag Ianto Jones Day was celebrated across Twitter on the 19th August 2014, as a mark of respect for a much missed member of the Torchwood team.  Ianto Jones was more than just a tea boy, or coffee boy for that matter.  He was an integral part of the Torchwood Hub, he was a walking encyclopedia, knowing all there was to know about more parts of the underground base than even Captain Jack was aware of.
Because while Jack was out catching the aliens and scavenging what he and the team could, of crashed alien ships etc, Ianto Jones was cataloguing and updating files in the Archives, that and keeping an eye on his cyber girlfriend in the basement.  But that aside, we celebrate Ianto’s birthday, in a coming together of friendship across the globe, of fans who love and still miss...Mr Ianto Jones.

Buffy’s Boys

If you say the name Robin Sachs to a Non-Buffy fan, chances are they wouldn't have a clue who you were talking about. Robin played a human who has had a few of his own episodes, his first being Halloween in Season 2, where our gang bar Cordy all change into their costumes. And by that I mean really change.  Willow wore a ghost costume and became a ghost. Xander was a soldier, turning into soldier boy. And our Heroine she wore a most beautiful pink 18th-century gown, becoming a weak simpering 18th century noble woman not the Slayer we know and need.

Artwork fascinates me, probably because I’m often in awe of the talent that is around, of artists who can transform an image or create an image so perfect you have to wonder if it’s an actual photograph that you’re viewing.  Or an artist who uses pencil to create a detailed drawing from memory, without fault or error of design, and as much as I know I can draw, I could never match the talent of a natural creative artist.

Fan Art

This month’s fan art was initially based upon Greeks Bearing Gifts and Toshiko Sato, but searching on the internet didn’t turn up many pieces of artwork that weren’t in some way leaning towards Anime, and often didn’t really cover Toshiko as we know her in Torchwood.  However one particular drawing featured by artist atlantiss505 captured my eye, the bold and striking black and white sketch of our tech wizard, Toshiko, was almost flawless by design.  Such attention to detail, and although I’m no art buff I know what I like, and this artist covered every basis and ticked every box.

Anyway, here are some pictures of our journey to Chemnitz!

Torchwood & Me
By Chloe Robertson

It was last year, of which I found Torchwood, and it found me and took me into its universe of fandom. Glancing at the lifeless shows of normal telly, I was bored. Being with Virgin Media, and their subscription, I found On Demand and many Doctor Who episodes! However, to get there, I had to go through options of what category it was. Scrolling down the categories, I would select Sci-Fi, and at the top of the list, there it was; a universe of episodes of Doctor Who. I looked down the list as it spoke of

Greetings from Portugal Torchwood Agents around the world!

By Gabriela Phalempin

Through Twitter I’ve kindly been invited to post my tribute to this show that I’ve grown to enjoy. When I say grow, I mean it literally, because I’ve never been a sci-fi fan. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a proud geek and bookworm, but apart from the Star Wars saga, the style has never quite kicked in on me.
A friend of mine – a true Whovian – not only introduced me to Doctor Who, but explained to me the intersection of the two shows and their creators and writers. I’m not a connoisseur and, as far as Doctor Who goes, I’ve seen some episodes on and off. David Tennant and Matt Smith I adore and Alex Kingston is just brilliant. Some episodes really grabbed me, but others not so much, I must confess.

Favourite Countrycide Moment

There are many scenes in Countrycide that stick in our memory, from Gwen Cooper’s ‘snogging’ question that caused an awkward moment between Ianto and the team, the ‘Moment’ between Owen and Gwen and if that watcher hadn’t cracked the twig, would they have given in to temptation.  There’s the scenes with the cannibals after they capture Ianto and Toshiko, and the many times poor Ianto winds up on the floor, but my special moment has to be when Jack threatens to torture the cannibal and my stomach somersaults several times, imagining if I as a character were ever unfortunate enough or ‘lucky’ enough to ever be in that position with Captain Jack Harkness!!!

Torchwood in the wild – Countrycide

By Claudia Lindner

What for me really is the most amazing thing about Countrycide is that it's such a classic horror movie episode. In the age of CGI, this is very rare. I don't say I don't like CGI, that's fantastic, too, e.g. if you watch the episode before Countrycide, Small Worlds. But in Countrycide, it's the good, almost old-fashioned  hand-crafted horror which fascinates me and which makes it so awesomely creepy. The hacked bodies, the blood everywhere and those hanged piles of human meat wrapped in plastic in that countryhouse for example made the scene with Tosh and Ianto being in the hands of those village cannibals one of the creepiest and scariest of all Torchwood episodes scenes ever.

Cyber Debate

Imagine if you will the scenario that Ianto faced when he rescued Lisa from Canary Wharf battle and hid her in the basement of the Torchwood 3 building. Where did he keep her before this time? How much of a risk was he putting himself in, what if Jack had pulled the trigger? What if there were more cybers out there undiscovered, hidden by their loved ones, desperate to find a cure, like Ianto's Lisa? Could you bring yourself to turn your back on your family when they'd been converted? Could you? Would you? (Sorry that sounded a lot like a blowfish there)

But think about it? Ianto took a calculated risk joining Torchwood 3, Jack could have said NO, and he did for the most part, so it's with that piece of interest to question how long it was before Jack forgave Ianto for the cyberwoman incident.

But how would you react if the upgrade had been children? In the series of Who when the humans were converted, children weren't affected, they weren't collected for the upgrades, why was that? So if a child was upgraded, would you feel the same way as Jack, could you be as cold and unforgiving, could you delete their existence? Would you set Myfanwy on them? It's a horrible thought I know, but it's one to think about.

"My Life With Action Figures"

An interview with Antje Strauch
By Antje Strauch

If you don’t mind me asking – how old are you exactly?

I’m turning 40 in October – why do you ask?

And you are still playing with dolls?!?

Well, yeah. Guess I have kept my inner child, and I love it. I don’t intend to grow up anytime soon, I have way too much fun. And it is action figures, please. There’s a difference. I think my figures might feel offended if you called them dolls!

Tell me more about it. What is so fascinating about them?

They look like the actors! The faces and the clothes are done very well. Well, except that one Captain Jack Harkness figure who comes a bit cross-eyed. And not only mine, everyone was complaining about this. Makes him look a bit daft ;) Setting up scenes with the figures is in a way like fanfiction with pictures. You can make them do pretty much everything you want. Sorry shippers and slashers, taking their clothes off might be a bit difficult, if not impossible, but everything else is fair game. They never

"You will never be just a blip in time, Ianto Jones."

‘The stream will cease to flow;
The wind will cease to blow;
The clouds will cease to fleet;
The heart will cease to beat;
For all things must die.’
An extract from All Things Will Die,
By Lord Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892)

On July 9th 2009, the world belonging to Ianto Jones came crashing to the ground. After releasing Jack Harkness from the concrete engulfed cell in Ashton Down, both Ianto and Jack entered Thames House and confronted the 456. It was to be the last battle Ianto faced. The 456 released a toxic virus into the building, sealing the fate of all the office staff and that of the young Welshman. He died in Jack’s arms.

"I Know Everything" - My Ianto Jones Moments

Ianto Jones was special for me in Torchwood. He was calm and thoughtful, but also so smart and funny. I loved his dry humour which he never lost, not even in the most desperate situations. One of these moments  if not the best, was the one when the world was about to end (again) in the 'Sleepers' episode of Season Two where Jack, Gwen and the sleeper alien tried to prevent a global disaster

On the 9th July 2009 during Day Four of Children of Earth we said a sad, teary and emotional farewell to Torchwood’s beloved tea boy Ianto Jones.  In the following weeks fans reacted in many ways one of the most poignant and lasting ways was to create a shrine at the fictional Tourist Information Office/Torchwood entrance on the waterfront of the Mermaid Quay.  It has been recognised by the Mermaid Quay shown by a plaque they have put up, as an important place for fans to gather, it is also included in the new walking tour from the Doctor Who Experience.

Today we visited to replace our tribute and read new tributes and messages.  We spoke to fellow fans from America and England, shared favourite moments and our love for the show.  Many tributes stand out for me, firstly one that is titled RIP Ianto Jones you are greatly

TORCHWOOD:MIRACLE DAY
By Steve Taylor Bryant
TheCultDen

It's time to go on the offensive again and stick up for a work of genius that is much maligned, even by avid fans of the show...Torchwood:Miracle Day.

Season 3 of Torchwood saw the show branch out into long story arc territory; surprisingly what Russell T Davies replacement on Doctor Who Steven Moffat got vilified for and, with Children Of Earth, the bar was raised in Torchwood and in sci-fi drama itself. Following the best that the show had ever offered, Children of Earth, was always going to be a tough task. You had to do something different, go somewhere new with it, and therein lies everyone's problem...

They don't like change!

Using a ten episode format was considered a risk, as was pretty much moving lock, stock and barrel to the States. Ten episodes may have been slightly long but I don't agree with those that say the story dragged.  I honestly think it's a quick and easy insult to say that and, if there is a problem, it lies elsewhere.

People moaned about the casting before the show was even on our screens.  Doubt built up to

Chocobetty’s Collection

Nearly everyone has a collection of something, or they could be starting a collection.  They may have a shelf full or a house full of souvenirs, memories saved on a film, a photo, or a vast collection of spaceships, aliens, books, games you name it.
Every month we’ll be featuring people who have a collection of things that mean something to them, of Torchwood, of Doctor Who.  It may be that they’re a Cosplayer, or a collector of memorabilia dating back to their childhood, they might have something that there’s only several or maybe only one in existence. This page is dedicated to the fans of Project: Torchwood who want to share with the world what it is that they love about Torchwood.

In this Issue Chocobetty tells us about her collection.

When did your collection start?

Chocobetty: I don't know if you can really call it a collection. I just made the collages of pictures, apart from that I just have the boxset of Season 1 and 2 and "Children of Earth". The pics were just what I liked on the internet. Actually, I got a little bit obsessed with John pictures. He's quite the eye-candy.  I started collecting the pics some time before putting the collages together; I think it was late April.

How long did it take to put together?

Chocobetty: Putting the whole thing together took way longer. I made one collage for every guest attending FedCon and with the last minute changes I didn't have one for another guest because I didn't know. I found a great program for doing collages online and bought it. I will use that one in the future as well. I think John took me the longest;
