So today I met the fabulous John Barrowman one of the nicest men I had ever met in my life. I waited two and a half hours to meet him (not that long considering a man waited four and a half hours).  I couldn't see him when he came in but I could hear him. He came and saw us.

Motor City Comic Con 2014

By: Jennifer Ings

The first time I ever met John Barrowman at a convention was at C2E2 2012 in Chicago. Now you might be wondering what this has to do with Motor City Comic Con two years later, but bear with me.  I knew John

11.13. April 2014, Birmingham
By Antje Strauch

One or two days before the “Miracle Day” Convention John Barrowman announced on his Twitter that he had unexpectedly a weekend off, and would be found at the Hollywood convention.

I guess that is in Hollywood.

Miracle Day Convention review
Christine Hannah Liddle

How could I possible write a review that shows just how amazing this con was? It’s just not possible! I got there around 5pm on Friday. After I checked in I got my personalised con t-shirt from Molly Lyons, and went to talk to

Motor City Comic Con

My First Comic Con Since....Ever

Tamie Wiggins

I'm pretty sure the Motor City Comic Con held this weekend (May 16th - 18th) is the first time I've ever been to a Con.

Pity I had neither the money (for tickets and hotel stay both) or the opportunity to go to the whole thing, but Friday was pretty good, though it probably would've been a lot better if I hadn't been so single-minded and fixated on one and only goal that I accomplished in the first two hours. Maybe next time?

27th April 2014 – Wales Comic Con, Wrexham, Wales.
By Chloe Robertson

My dad driving me for one hour into Wales was quite boring. I ended up eating a homemade salad, and listening to some music as I started fretting if I would get in. I had bought a General Entry ticket, and worried how long it would take to get in. Upon arriving, my mouth was wide open, the queues went all the

MCM Comic Con Expo at Excel in London

I had an amazing time visiting this different form of convention.  Wow so much stuff so much to do, where to start.

Well due to the time limitation of my body (need to get fit), I just managed a day at this amazing place. So I elected for the Saturday, okay maybe a little wrongly as I learnt later.  But this is what I got up to.

Collectormania 2013
Braehead Arena
Glasgow
By DJ Forrest

The day started early, boarding the train at half 8 and waiting till nearly 9am before whatever fault with a back carriage was fixed before we could head off on our two hour journey to Glasgow.  We were already behind schedule.  The next fun moment was discovering I really had no clue where I was going in Glasgow and all streets looked the same.  But we found the bus stop and grateful that the two people we recognised from the train were going to the same place, we boarded the X7 bus to Braehead Arena!
We arrived about 20 mins later only to find a queue that stretched a good way into the building, so after the initial worry of being late seeing any attractions, I had nothing to worry about after all.

The floor show while we waited was fantastic.  Star Wars had come to Braehead Arena and all my favourites were there, even if I couldn’t remember all of their names.  Their costumes were fantastic and I was in absolute awe of them.

I didn’t have a Press Pass and was initially told that as Eve Myles wasn’t due in till 3pm, she’d be a bit pressed for time. Accepting this, I focused on the Arena, the stalls and the celebrities visiting.

Blue Gillespie

Buffalo Bar, Cardiff 3rd August 2013

It’s been 6 years of hardcore, thumping, rocking music, but now at the time of printing the end is here. Unless you are lucky enough to go to the final, final, final gig in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, on August 30th, Blue Gillespie bowed out on home turf on August 3rd, and I was one of the lucky people to be there.

Blue Gillespie formed in November 2007 and are a metal trio from Newport. They released two EPs and two albums, and are followed by loyal fans, called Gillespians.  The evening started off as usual with the normal stamping of your hand with a little rubberstamp and ink to show you had paid for this privilege, and entering the small but reasonably roomy area of Buffalo Bar, Cardiff, the atmosphere was automatically lively, fans and band members excited for what was to come.

The first on stage, which was decked out with a huge Blue Gillespie banner, was introduced by Gareth, saying how much this particular guy had supported them through the years, and that was Gareth Bennett, otherwise known as G. He played a really good techno set using a laptop which was interesting to watch. Once his set was over, Gareth David Lloyd then thanked him for the past 6 years of support, and the room cheered and clapped. There was then a 10/15 minute break for the audience to go and have a breather outside, or buy fresh drinks, but before long the boys started setting up.

James Marsters at Slayer ItaCon
by Marco Donati

From August 2 to 4, fans from all over Italy and Europe gathered at Demidoff County Resort Hotel, just outside of Florence, for the first Italian convention of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Slayer ItaCon. Among the guests, there was the ex-vampire James Marsters, who portrayed the unforgettable Captain John Hart in Torchwood. I've been a fan of the Buffyverse since childhood, and the venue was close enough to where I live that I didn't need to book a room at the hotel, so it was already a great opportunity for me. When James Marsters' attendance at Slayer ItaCon was announced as his only public appearance in Europe for this year, I knew I couldn't miss such a chance to meet for the first time one of my favourite Torchwood actors. So I ordered my pass, autographs, and photo-ops, and prepared for three exciting days of fun!

Arcade Con 2013
By Rachel Barcoe

This was my first time to attend Arcade Con in Dublin.  What drew me to it this year was the special guest Gareth David Lloyd.  I decided to splash out and buy the VIP ticket as it included a brunch attended by all special guests.

On Friday, I arrived at the Ballsbridge Hotel and checked in before heading out to join the large queue to enter Arcade Con.  It was an unusually hot day and I was grateful for the staff of the con handing out cups of water while we patiently waited.  I looked up as I heard a member of Con staff ask if there were people with VIP passes.  I was taken quickly from the queue, introduced to a member of staff who would answer any questions over the weekend and escorted to a separate desk where I was given a cupcake, my gift bag (filled with a poster of Wolverine, a book, vouchers, sweets, a ball and a map of the convention) and my gold pass.  Now free to roam the con.

Wizard World Philadelphia 2013

My husband and I have been going to Philly for this con for about 10 years.  We love comics and sci- fi, and Philly is only a 4-5 hour drive for us. However,  I had already done a couple of cons this year, and I wasn’t sure we were going to bother…and then Barrowman announced. I was ecstatic! I have hoped for the past couple of years he would do something close by, something both Chris and I could go to together, and Philly was ideal!
I have gone to London to see John on stage and in concert, and I have gone to various cons around the country with my Barrowman fan friends, but this would be the first time Chris would be with me. He likes John, but he’s not a Doctor Who or

FEDCON 22

EVE MYLES PANEL
By: Doreen

"I don’t do things 100%. I do it 120% or I’m not doing it at all."

There is this joke going around that the FedCon should be renamed into BarrowCon. But for me it is only half the truth. For me it has also become the EveCon. I always knew that Eve Myles is a great actress and a beautiful person but - in persona - she almost blew me away with her kindness and grace.

Her first words on stage were about the warm and welcoming audience and that was a good way to start into a heart-touching panel. In the first minutes she happened to fall on her knees and when she recognised it I loved her saying: ‘Oh my God, I feel

Detailed report about the John Barrowman/Eve Myles panel at Fedcon 2013, Sunday May 12th

By Antje Strauch

Colin Ferguson and Matt Frewer from “Eureka” were on before John Barrowman and Eve Myles did the “Torchwood” panel, which was the final panel at Sunday. He went out with both chairs him and Matt had sat on. Then he came back in, still carrying them and announced: "John Barrowman wants to sit down". We all laughed.

First they showed the video "Single ladies" and three Barrowmans dancing to it. One Barrowman is not enough. I still have an earworm from that song. Then Eve and John came out, dancing to the music which introduced them (“Dankeschoen”). First

FedCon 22
The Con Experience

By Doreen

Okay, there was this day when John Barrowman was announced for the FedCon 22 in Duesseldorf, Germany. So I had only one thing to do: booking those bloody tickets for my first convention ever!! But…would I survive four days between all these geeks and nerds?

Day One (Thursday)

In the morning, I thankfully got the information that the Hotel Maritim isn’t at the train station ‘Airport’ but at ‘Airport Terminal’. That wasn’t even that bad because it gave me the opportunity to arrive in proper style using the Airport Sky Train. I was really

Calgary Expo by Susan Bonkamp

I got into Calgary on Thursday afternoon, checked into my hotel, and met up with my friends Sue and Kerry. We had an awesome dinner in a Chinese restaurant near the hotel, which was near Chinatown, then headed off to bed. We were all planning to walk in the Parade of Wonders which was the start of the Expo, and we were all jet-lagged.

The next morning we met up in our costumes and headed to the Eau Claire Market where they were lining us all up for the parade. I wore my TARDIS dress, so I got to walk with all the Doctors, right behind the Delorean from Back to the Future.  John, Eve, and Gareth were parade marshalls, and were riding in a gorgeous BMW in the front. It was cold, and really windy,
