When John our Locations writer announced he was getting married, to the love of his life Paul Winstone, I couldn’t have been happier for him. 

The wedding took place in Bedwellty House in Tredegar, Wales.  The wedding was a historic moment not just because this was a same sex marriage, but also that it was the first same sex marriage that Blaenau Gwent Council registrars had hosted. 

The photos that John posted up on our Facebook Page were wonderful and we’ve shared some here in the cover art.  We’d also like to again, wish both Paul and John a wonderful life together, even though they have been together for some time, but marriage seals the bond (excuse the pun)!

I guess this also means that Captain Jack can’t flirt with his Doctor now!!!

Paul Finds the Right Doctor

How wonderful it was when our very own Doctor, John Bond, tied the knot and became John Bond-Winstone when he married at the beginning of June. And not only was it wonderful that John married, but he was able to marry his beloved, Paul Winstone. And oh how wonderful that John was the first friend whom I bought an appropriate card for.  Two sailors dancing (would have been even more perfect if it had been Superman and Batman dancing lol).

But it must be said; 5 years ago I would never have thought this day would come. I don’t think anyone did. Not John marrying, but marrying a man. Ok to some this means nothing, but to us it means everything. Many of us spent our young adulthood thinking we’d never marry and now that’s all changed.

But hey, let’s not all go all political. Let’s celebrate this amazing day and that most of all our fabulous John has found someone special and he’s shared something very special with his friends and family. I only wish I’d been able to share that day too and able to meet his new husband.

So a big hearty congratulations to our Doctor John and to Paul his new husband, who has found the right Doctor.
